Yoga Program

Ages 12 to 15

Mindfulness and yoga practices can serve as a valuable tool when coping with trauma, complicated emotions, and stress triggers. At the Kristen French Child Advocacy Centre, we believe that through yoga, we can foster resiliency, self-awareness, and personal autonomy to promote healing in children and youth. At the Yoga Program*, an 8-week trauma informed yoga program, youth aged 12 to 15 will learn to express and experience their emotions through various methods including:  

  • Exploration of physical postures  
  • Breathing exercises  
  • Mindfulness and body awareness practices  
  • Vision board making
  •  Journalling  

Through 1-hour sessions lead by a local 500hr trained yoga teacher, youth will gain a sense of personal power and purpose, better self-esteem as well as improved self-understanding. Yoga Program takes place on Tuesday nights at Yoga by Abbey studio located on 82 Lake Street, St Catharine’s. The program is open to any youth between the ages of 12 to 15 that have been through investigations with FACS or have experience of abuse or trauma.  

*program is NOT intended to replace therapeutic practices
