April 4 to May 23, 2023

Tuesday 5:30 to 6:30pm, ages 6 to 9

We believe every child should be given the opportunity to express themselves and heal in a healthy and creative way. Our 8-week programs are designed for youth who have completed their investigation process with FACS Niagara or the Niagara Regional Police or those who have experienced abuse or trauma and come at no cost to the participant.

Yoga and mindfulness practices can be a valuable tool when coping with negative life experiences, complicated emotions, and stress triggers. At the Kristen French Child Advocacy Centre, we believe that through yoga, we can foster resiliency, self-awareness, and personal autonomy to promote healing in children and youth. During Peaceful Warriors, an 8-week trauma informed yoga program, children ages 6-9 will explore concepts and themes such as:

  • Mindfulness
  • Positive Self-Talk
  • Self-Compassion
  • Personal Autonomy

What to expect

During these 1-hour sessions lead by a local 500hr trained yoga teacher, Abbey Morris, children will be provided with a safe, supportive & non-judgmental space to explore their emotions and connect with their bodies through a combination of yoga postures, breathing exercises, and mindfulness practices. We also incorporate creative movement, visualizations and relaxation techniques to help children regulate their emotions and learn stress.

Children registered in the program will receive all supplies needed including a yoga mat, which they will take home at the end of the program!
